Getting comfortable with making albums
I have more than a few albums now since I started really putting projects together in 2019.
it's been a weird but really fun journey.
the part that always trips me up is OTHER PEOPLE'S OPINIONS.
People say a lot of different things for a lot of different reasons. but my biggest discovery is that people tend to be projecting most of the time.
and it rears its ugly head the most when it's people you know, at the end of the day, how can some one understand your art if they never felt how you've felt or think how you thought?
and on the other hand, isnt my goal to be heard by people who understand what im saying?
This level of connection is exactly what I appreciated about Charles Hamilton in my college days. how is it possible to feel so seen just by listening to a guy talk about himself?
thats the magic of this music stuff. and I realize now that to truly participate i have to do just that. Talk about myself in the hopes that my music reaches those who actually relate.
If music was really about givin it to people their way like burger king, it wouldnt even interest me as much as it does.
with that being said, I'm pretty proud of Sankofa and Poet Society. lets see what the numbers look like after I do some serious promo. I'll really take my time with the next project.
